Why Hyper-Fixation is Our Founders’ Playbook.

We get asked all the time now: “How did you come up with the name Cyclops?”


A great name can do a lot for a company. When coming up with our company name, we created a list of priorities for the brand:


  1. Hyper-Fixation: Our unfair advantage has always been the gift of obsessive dedication to a very specific market. In this case, Payments Companies.

  2. Singularity: Collapsing all the complex infrastructure components into a single, fully integrated solution for stablecoin products.

  3. Enterprise Grade: Built for companies that operate at trillion dollar scale. We want to embody and convey that we are built to operate to meet the highest standards when the stakes are the highest.

  4. Resonance: We didn’t just want the name to be sticky, we wanted vibrational frequency. We wanted the name to breathe life into the products, and speak excitement into the room when people see the brand they’re building with.


Hyper Fixation

Our unfair advantage has always been the gift of obsessive dedication to a very specific market. In this case, Payments Companies. We named our company Cyclops to embody our hyper-focus on the payments industry. The one eye logo has gravity, drawing the attention to a single point of focus. We want the clients we work with to feel that gravity. 


From our time as payments company executives who partnered with the other solutions, we’ve  seen the million ways that they have sacrificed specialized offerings so that their infrastructure platforms can partner with non-payments clients (banks, brokerages, direct to merchants, etc.).  


Companies have found success doing so. However, we’ve lived through the pain that creates for payments companies. We are the antidote to the time and money wasted when payments companies try to make these generalist platforms fit their needs. The name Cyclops embodies our singular focus on this problem, and only this problem.


Singularity

Specializing in a particular industry requires mastery of the clients’ products. It also requires mastery of the integration layers that make things seamless. The product vision we’ve brought to life involves collapsing a complex and fragmented ecosystem into a platform worthy of the global stablecoin payments opportunity.


After we spent the last four years at a global payments company building these products with the existing infrastructure players, we identified dozens of ways we can build and integrate products to create that seamless experience we were hoping to find when we were the client. 


We wanted a brand that captured the singularity we were creating by collapsing these complex elements into a turnkey solution for payments companies like PSPs, gateways, orchestrators, networks and beyond. 


Enterprise Grade

Cyclopes were known to build tools for the gods. The highest quality products for the most important customer. We are building products for large payments companies, not individual merchants. These products are built to handle trillions in volumes and transaction counts. They are built at the scale of our customers and with a focus on uptime and durability that the industry has been lacking. Every client we have should feel that Cyclops will live or die based on how well we serve them. We felt the brand did a good job of capturing that essence.


Resonance

Finally, we wanted a brand that went beyond being sticky. Many of the stickiest brands break from the standard patterns. The formulas you’re used to seeing are ones like Industry Term + Offering = Name, or Color + Inanimate Object = Name. If you want the name to be sticky, breaking from this pattern is a recipe for that, like what our friends at Meow have done. A memorable name that feels worthy of the moment. 


Conclusion

The name Cyclops embodies our one-track mind — collapsing the complexities of stablecoin products for payments companies into a singularity.
