New Hire: Lupe López Joins Cyclops as Senior Commercial Counsel

Adyen veteran brings more than a decade of payments and cross-border legal experience to the Cyclops team.

We’re excited to welcome Lupe López as Cyclops’ new Senior Commercial Counsel!

Lupe joins Cyclops after five and a half years at Adyen, where she led commercial legal work at the center of one of the world’s leading payments platforms. She negotiated high-volume agreements with merchants and partners, led commercial legal teams across North America and LATAM, and built the legal frameworks that helped Adyen move quickly into new products and markets.

Most recently, she spearheaded the legal go-to-market for Adyen’s agentic commerce solution, all the way from initial product scoping to launch. She partnered with product, commercial and AI ecosystem teams, developed the core customer terms, and negotiated agreements with key customers. This experience lines up perfectly with where Cyclops is headed, as agentic payments become a growing focus for the payments companies we serve and for our work with the x402 Foundation.

Before Adyen, Lupe led legal for an early-stage telehealth startup, advising its founders on everything from commercial deals to fundraising and regulatory matters. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly eight years at Freshfields in New York and Washington, DC, representing global companies on complex international litigation, arbitration and investigations.

Her time at Adyen showed Lupe firsthand how much value a single platform creates when it replaces a fragmented web of providers. That’s the same problem Cyclops solves for payments companies adopting stablecoins, and it’s what drew her to Cyclops’ vision right away. She’s passionate about how stablecoins can make payments more efficient and expand access to stable currencies and services in emerging markets, particularly in the age of agentic commerce.

Having worked on both the legal side of a global payments leader and as a startup lawyer building from scratch, Lupe brings a perspective few in the industry share. She understands not just how payments deals get done at scale, but how to build the foundation for them at a growing company. We’re thrilled to have her join Cyclops to lead commercial legal and help payments companies go live on stablecoin infrastructure faster.
